1 Pound no Fukuin

iside89Yes, as I said in the last meme, this was one of those dramas I watched the 1st episode and then let rot in my computer for various reasons. But it's summer, and I'm watching drama and anime that I left apart for too much months to keep my HD clean, keep mi favourite dramas and delete series I don't mind. After finishing Kimi wa Petto (AWFUL), I watched all 1 pound in just 2 days. It was charming!

Fansub Watched: Massuki & Sailor spork. Not so heavy episodes, but some dark scenes was pixelled - and it was difficult to find good scenes to use in this review.

I think that a boxer with weight problems because he's a gluttony is simply a smart idea XD I laughed SO HARD during all the drama! And his faces!! God, his faces and his reactions to food X°°D
I'll say a little note: the first thing I thought was "Oh, this is really a story written by a Japanese!" XD (if you've studied or read something about Japanese idea about religions, you'll understand why I said it). At my eyes, the most obvious objection that EVERYONE must have say to Kousaku when trying to convince him to give up was "nuns can't marry". Seriously. It's so obvious. But they said it only 1 time in 9 episodes. I was shocked XD
I'll be frank and I'll say that around half drama I felt my concentration falling down. It's a bit repetitive, as most of Japanese dramas, since there's this structure "match decided-loss of weight-Angela get angry-Kousaku depressed-Match-make it up" used around 4-5 times in 9 episodes.
But... I loved the last episodes. Really. Loved. Them. And of course I shed my usually 2 tears at the end.
Characters: Kousaku is RANDOM. I can't define him in other ways. TOTALLY, absolutely random. But I love him XD His "saraba, ore!" at the first episode was EPIC. Though I'd slap him 3-4 times or maybe more during the series, because he's too much stupid/naive and stubborn. But I liked how he became "a
man" at the end of the series, choosing a path more mature and different from his style in the name of love and duty. I was moved when he made that choice, a little tear born ç_ç And when he jumps on the punchinball... LOL!!!
Sister Angela is too much indecisive, but I have to say that I appreciated her when she showed her boxing skills XD for the rest, she's a plain female character to me.
Mother superior was a GREAT character! I loved her X°°D She was cute and smart and clever and... LOL! XD
Chairman was great too. I liked the acting too. So LOL how she used Kousaku's love to make him fight. XD
Actors: I guess I'm getting used to Asian way of acting. I've always thought that they are too false and exaggerated in their acting, but recently I don't think this so often. Moreover, this drama is zany, so their acting must be exaggerated.
Stated this, I'll sentence: Kame as Kousaku was really good. I appreciate he has tried this character, so different from his previous Gokusen and Nobuta cool chara. When i dropped for the first time this drama I guess I wasn't used to his weirdness. Now that I know how baka he can be, I started thinking how much he was acting and how much he was himself as Kousaku XD

la is a very beautiful girl, I so envy her! Her acting wasn't bad, she fits the role of a controlled young sister. I usually hate Japanese actresses, so the fact I don't despise her is a good point.
I'm still deciding if I liked Yamada Ryosuke as Katsumi. I say not. I think he's plain and his face doesn't have a wide range of expressions. Since I'm going to watch "Hidarime tantei EYE", I'm hoping he improved his acting skills in these 2 years or it will be a pain watch that drama.
The other boxers didn't impressed me so much. Sister Millie too, she was scary but as acting... mah.
Music: Lips by KAT-TUN as ending theme. Of course it's great XD Bias aside, I don't really understand if the lyrics are fitting or not (oh well it's a love song, so I suppose yes, but...), but the rhythm yes. it fits at the end!
Why you may want to see it:
-Girls, you'll love to see a boy healing his love depression with food. You'll sympathize with him! XD
-It's really really funny. I swear Iol'ed so much!
-If you're JE-fan, you'll love Kame in this random version XD
-Happy ending is happy. Recently is so difficult to find endings that brings satisfaction, well done and not too much honey-full. I REALLY loved the ending!!
Why you may don't want to see it:
-You don't like comic drama.
-You don't like Kame and/or baka!Kame (since there're fangirls that want to see only cool!Kame - they don't know what they're losing).
-You hate sport-based stories and/or boxe.
-You are religious and don't want to see a love story involving a nun (for this reason, read what I said under PLOT).
I give 7,5/10: I LOL'ed so much I can't remember all the scenes. XD
Next dorama... I'm going to end Bloody Monday 2, then Tokyo Dogs and Hidarime Tantei EYE. Yes, they're the same genre X°°D I didn't it on purpose. Ah, this evening I'll watch Yuuki. I smell tears. Litres of tears.
BTW: Buon ferragosto a tutti gli italiani :P (chissà se è festa anche fuori Italia...?)
