Yes, I think that the reason behind KAT-TUN's (and I suppose NEWS too) lack of promo is because they are getting old especially if compared with HSJ and Sexy Zone. 2 members of KAT-TUN are going to turn 30 this year, and this means they won't be in idols magazines like Wink Up, Popolo etc anymore too. :( (it seems it's a sort of not-written rule. Indeed, K8 disappeared too from these magazines). But yeah, NEWS fandom is really supportive with their idols, I really like the atmosphere you can feel there :)
